The Asquith Homes Guide to Wakefield

Planning on moving to Wakefield but feeling nervous about moving to a new area? No problem. Read this quick guide that we’ve written to make you feel a lot more confident in your new city.

Transport:

Access the motorway system easily from Wakefield via the intersection of the M1 and M62 motorway. Don’t drive? Don’t worry. There are plenty of buses available to get you around. For the long distance travellers, there are frequent trains available that will take you to many places around Yorkshire such as Leeds, Doncaster and Sheffield. Going on holiday? Leeds Bradford International Airport is just 19 miles north of the city at Yeadon.

Shopping:

You’ll be spoilt for choice with Wakefield’s shopping selection. From the Wakefield Market Hall to the Trinity Walk Shopping Centre, you’ve got lots to choose from when you need your retail therapy fix. There are also lots of places to eat and drink so whatever you’re craving you’ll definitely find.

Nightlife:

There are plenty of pubs, bars and clubs to choose from for when you want to let loose on the weekend. Some of our personal favourite pubs include Henry Boons, The Hop & Castle.

Things to do on your day off:

  • Visit the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (you can even bring your dog for a walk here!)
  • Take a trip to the Hepworth Gallery
  • Go for a walk at the Scenic Castle
  • Visit the Wakefield Cathedral
  • Have a picnic at Upton country park
  • Take part in some water sports at Pugneys country park or just go for a stroll

We hope this little guide has helped with making you more confident when moving to Wakefield. Wanting to move to Wakefield but haven’t secured a home yet? Check out our listings on our website for our range of residential properties.
